What does "assimilation" mean to you? Is it about shedding old selves and fitting into a new mold entirely? Or does a successfully assimilated community maintain all of the differences it's presented with and find power in many perspectives?
In this mixed media artwork I explore and present a visual of this age-old conversation in layers of diverse materials of papyrus, wood veneers, suedes, and dyed corks. The piece is gallery wrapped and wired to hang.
