A scientific article came across my feed about arctic phytoplankton, and somehow what was happening under the microscope looked a lot like my art! I suppose deconstructing and reconstructing our world(s) goes on at many levels.
It seemed a good metaphor for a lot of my conceptual art involving deconstructing and exploring elements and capturing multi-level impacts visually, which was the basic foundation of this materials-based artwork.
It's created with banana and grass fiber collage papers on an acrylic painting foundation. I then constructed the elements, motion, and connections using wood veneers, corks, mulberry fiber papers, fabrics, and several beautiful patina'd copper veneers. It's gallery wrapped and wired to hang.
